One Tree Hill Episode 3.05 Review!

3.05 A Multitude Of Casualties

Well, I kinda of liked this episode just for the hilarious fights. There was a loy in this episode that just made no sense to me but I was still able to enjoy it.

Nathan/Haley: Nathan's intentions are really starting to confuse me. I know he still loves her, that is obvious, but I just don't understand what his plan with Chris. Poor Haley keeps trying to put in an effort to talk to Nate, but he just brushes her off. Haley is trying everything she can to earn Nathan's trust and show him that she's back for good and that she wants to work on being together again. But of course Nathan is still keeping his distance. Although he is, he still wants Haley to do what she loves. So he is working with Chris Keller to make it happen. Haley totally tells Chris off when he approaches her to work together again, which she so needed to do, and refused. Even though that is something Nathan should be happy with, he goes and tells Haley that it's her chance to prove to him that she doesn't have feelings for Chris and earn his trust back. Haley in the end does give in and accepts Chris' offer, unaware that Nathan is behind the whole thing.

Nathan/Whitey: Well, Nathan is officially granted the title of Captain for the Tree Hill Ravens basketball team. Funny how I thought he always was. But I guess I was wrong. Whitey even made a comment about how Nathan was unofficially the captain already, so I guess I wasn't completely wrong. I saw this scene as a foreshadow of what would happen during Midnight Madness since Whitey was emphasizing how it was Nathan's job to promote team unity. Obviously Whitey doesn't know that Nathan & Lucas are once again at odds. Well, in the end he learns the hard way.

Brooke/Rachel:Well, last week we had the pleasure of meeting Rachel as Pam Anderson at the Masquerade party. This week we see her at the cheerleader tryouts. Brooke of course already doesn't like her because of her dancing with Lucas at the party. Can I say that her dancing to David Banner's Play was probably not the best song to tryout with. Anyway Brooke doesn't want her on the squad, but Rachel was obviously the best. Rachel has her own agenda and does her best to manipulate the squad to be on her side much to Brooke's chagrin. The rivalry between them is pretty interesting to watch. What makes it even more interesting  is the rivalry about Lucas. Brooke inadvertently forces Brooke to ask Rachel out and Lucas is using her to make Brooke jealous. It works but just makes Brooke angrier. Rachel of course just wants to push Brooke's buttons. She succeeds when she tries to upstage Brooke at Midnight Madness. It all comes to a head when Rachel Takes it too far and Brooke hits her. They get into an all out brawl in the middle of the gym. It was really great to see. The best part though was in the end when Booke punched her. No one messes with Brooke.

Brooke/Haley: I just love watching scenes between these two. This time Brooke asks Haley to join the cheerleading squad. Haley of course refuses, since it's really not her thing, but Brooke is relentless. Brooke mostly wants to make sure that Rachel is not needed. But to me I also think that Brooke just wants to get closer to Haley and include her. It was funny how Brooke tried the "Nathan will be shirtless and all the girls notice." tactic with Haley to convince her to join. But Haley thinks Nathan will see it as a pathetic attempt to get closer to him. In the end Haley does end up joining the Ravens cheerleading squad. Peyton was a little rude about it with her "Nice outfit" comment but at least she wasn't as hostile and mean as before. I'm glad to see Haley branch out and try something new. And it doesn't necessarily have to be about Nathan.

Brooke/Lucas: Our Luke is a little skewed on the rules of the non-exclusive relationship that Brooke set up and she lets him know that. She tells him that he has to play fair and start seeing other people too. She inadvertently pushes him towards Rachel and later regrets doing it. Lucas uses Rachel as a means to make Brooke so jealous that she'll want to be exclusive with him. In the end Brooke starts to see them together more than she wants ands breaks down to Lucas that what she wanted him to really do was fight for her and show her the guy that said at the beach party that he was the one for her by showing her that he'd rather be alone if he couldn't be with her.. What I think these two need to do is stop playing these mind games and just admit their feelings and get together already.

Lucas/Rachel: Each one has their own agenda when it comes to Brooke. Lucas wants to make her jealous and Rachel just wants to show her up and assimilate herself into Brooke's position. Rachel knows what Lucas' real intentions are with her and she has know problems doing it. She'll participate in anything to get a rise out of Brooke. But she also seems to have a real interest in Luke too. I may be wrong about that, but that's how I see it for now. I can't wait to learn more about Rachel in future episodes.

Dan/Deb: These two just get more comical each week. Deb is caught between a rock and a hard place since Dan won't give her the divorce until he wants, but it isn't stopping her from sabotaging him in his race for mayor. That was hilarious how she walked in during his strategy meeting in lingerie and a glass of alcohol. She was just so funny. And Dan's reaction was just so priceless. Of course Dan had to get her back. He wouldn't be Dan if he didn't. Unfortunately he went too far by sodomizing a dog with her toothbrush. That was just disgusting. And most importantly childish. Deb at least does things that an adult would do, but dan is just doing things that kids would. I mean, come on, he's Dan Scott. Surely he can do something better than that. Hope to see it continue to escalate.

Peyton/Ellie: For the past few weeks we've seen Peyton struggle with the urge to want to get to know her mother. They finally do get to spend some bonding time and it seems that Peyton is really starting to enjoy getting to know Ellie and kind of start to connect with her. They share a lot of things in common which really intrigues Peyton, but then Peyton finds an article Ellie wrote and a drawing she did and Peyton feels betrayed once again by Ellie. Ellie tries to explain and tells Peyt to read the article. She does and gets a whole new perspective. She regrets pushing Ellie away in the end. It was sad seeing Ellie in the Hospital MRI machine while listening to Peyton's Podcast. I hope to see these two find peace and get along.

Nathan/Lucas: This was the moment that people, including myself, were waiting for. Lucas being the good friend that he is once again tried to talk to Nathan about what he is doing to Haley. Nathan like always doesn't want to talk about it. But Lucas keeps pushing until he says the one thing that pushes Nathan over the edge. That thing being that Nathan is just like Dan. When he said that all I thought was "Oh no he didn't say what I think he said." It was the first time that anyone ever said that to Nathan's face and I don't know why but I think Lucas being the one to say it was pretty fitting. It is definitely the ultimate insult to Nate and Luke crossed a major line when he said that. They fight in front of everyone in the pep rally and it lands them in Whitey's office. That's a big UH OH. Whitey is upset and embarrassed by the two and in an attempt to force them to work together again he makes Lucas co-captain. Who knows whether this will make it better or worse.

Midnight Madness: This was definitely madness as Mouth had said it. One of the most interesting was Karen announcing that she was going to run against Dan in the race for Mayor. I'm so happy that Karen is going to do this. She is definitely the best person to oppose him. I certainly hope Karen succeeds and puts Dan in his place once and for all. And I can't go without mentioning the fights. That was by far the best part. Lucas and Nathan Fighting sparked a big brawl with the Basketball team and the fight between Brooke and Rachel sparked a brawl between the cheerleaders. It was so funny to see. One thing though. Why exactly was Peyton fighting the mascot? That had to be the funniest moment. Everytime I think about it just makes me laugh. I'm laughing right now. LOL.

Special mentions: I'm glad to see that Mouth has an official post as sports announcer for the Ravens. But I'm not so sure about that Gigi girl. She really didn't contribute much, but unfortunately she was the only one to come to Mouth's auditions. They really should bring that one guy, Jimmy Edwards, back who was Mouth's sports announcing partner from the first season. I wonder what happened to him.

Well, Peace, Love, and Hugs. Until next time.
