One Tree Hill Episode 3.02 Review!

3.02 From The Edge Of The Deep Green Sea

Well, this episode sure did lift my spirits a little after last week. And to make my review easy I am going to break it down by characters. So here it goes.

Nathan/Lucas: Can I just say that the one on one between them was just HOT! While I was watching it the only word that came to mind was DAMN! James Lafferty has definitely been working hard on the court because his moves just put Chad to major shame. And yes I know James is a talented basketball player in real life but I don't think he has played like that on the show before. They were playing for their friendship since Nathan is still pissed at Lucas for going after their father. Lucas thinks it's crap but Nathan doesn't. Lucas loses so they are still on the outs. The second scene between was again at the Rivercourt but this time Lucas went to confront Nathan about his avoidance of Haley.Lucas playing the role of protective older brother to his best friend was sweet. Nathan tells Lucas to butt out but Lucas warns him that if he mistreats Haley he will make him hurt. I like that Haley has someone in her corner. And I'm glad Lucas is back full force protecting his best friend.

Nathan/Haley: The main reason I watch the show. That and shirtless Nathan is not bad on the eyes either. Poor Haley really wants to fix her relationship with Nate but he is still hurt and angry. He didn't even tell her that he was back in town from High Flyers. She had to find out from Luke. When she went to see him in the weight room the awkwardness and tension was so evident even though clearly you can see that they both love each other still. Nathan noticed that Haley put her wedding ring back on. I don't know if the smile that crossed his face was because she was wearing her ring or simply because of the end of summer beach party she was mentioning but it was sweet none the less. I was a little worried at first when he didn't show up to the party and Haley looked so upset and lonely. But after the confrontation with Lucas he came and then asked to talk with her. Nathan apologized for not telling her he was back but just didn't want to hurt her since he is still angry. I loved that he wanted to be completely honest with her about what he is feeling even if it isn't really what she wants to hear. But of course Haley lets him know she'll be there. I just loved how open and honest this conversation was and even though it didn't seem much like it, it gave us Naley fans some hope.

Lucas/Haley: I just have to mention how happy I am that they are acting like the best friends we knew and loved in Season 1. The writers kind of lost sight of this special relationship in Season 2. The scenes in Brooke and Haley's apartment were kind of bittersweet since they were joking around but then he broke the news about Nathan's return. Then of course Lucas defending Haley when he went to talk to Nathan. And of course at the end when they took the walk along the beach as a way to comfort each other. It was perfect. Loved Lucas' line "I think this the beginning of a beautiful friendship, again." It just summed it up.

Peyton: Okay I usually love Peyton, especially with Jake, but her attitude is really bugging me. I know she's upset about her mother, but does that really give her the right to be mean the way she was to her father and Haley. I would've been mad at my dad too but she was a little too rude and disrespectful to him for my liking. She should've gotten smacked for that. As for the rudeness towards Haley was completely uncalled for. Haley has put an effort into talking with Peyton by calling her and Peyton was just rude and bitter. That was also really mean when she played the duet Haley did with Chris. Peyton needs to take her anger out on her mother and not on Haley.

Lucas/Brooke: This non-exclusive thing is still kinda weird to me. I don't really see it working out too much. Obviously Lucas thinks so too seeing as he looked hurt when he saw her with other guys.  Something's gotta happen to end this soon because it looks awkward. Hopefully it won't last long.

Dan: Now this is an evil man. Totally hated how he taunted Haley when she came to see Nathan at the house. Subtle move when he asked Haley if she left her leather gloves to see if she had anything to do with the fire. And in the end when he saw Lucas at the bonfire and flashbacked to the fire remembering and he visualized Lucas there, totally irked me because now he believes Lucas did it and I don't think Luke would do something like that. No matter how much Lucas hates Dan I don't he would go as far as trying to kill him. I think he saved him. But hopefully soon we'll find out who did really set the fire. Not to mention his convo with Karen. Was so proud of the things Karen said to him.

Tim: Yay!!! Tim is back and funnier than ever. Although I think he sounded dumber than ever, too. Is it even possible for Tim to get dumber?  Apparently so if this episode is of any evidence. Favorite scene was him naked on the couch playing the guitar and singing his song. Though I thought it was a little insensitive of him to ask Haley to sing When The Stars Go Blue. Thankfully Nathan threw his guitar in the fire. Hopefully we'll have a lot more Tim in future episodes.

Special Mention: Karen saying "Woot" & "What What" was one of the funniest things I've seen. That and Lucas dancing at the party. Kept me laughing the rest of the night.

That was my review. Overall, I liked the episode. Can't wait till next week. Until next time.
