Okay so last night was the Oscars. I don't personally enjoy watching the Oscars since it's just so long. But I do follow up afterwards. Especially if any of my favorites are nominated. Which was the case last night.
The beautiful and talented Jennifer Lawrence, who happens to be one of my girl crushes, was nominated in the Best Actress category for her role in Silver Linings Playbook. Which let me say is one of my favorite movies this year. She was truly amazing in it. The whole cast was great! It was just a really good movie. Anyway when I heard she was nominated I obviously hoped she would be the one to win. As lovely as I'm sure all the other nominees are I was biased due to my adoration for JLaw. I don't deny I'm biased. Well as luck would have it, SHE WON!
I was so happy for her! She looked so shocked. I felt a little bit of second hand embarrassment for her when she fell, but she didn't let it deter her even making a slight joke. And her acceptance speech was just so her. You could tell she didn't plan on it. Probably not thinking she wouldn't be the one to win. Well at least it appeared that way to me. I just adore her. She is so incredibly talented and I'm so happy to see her recognized for it. She has such a bright future ahead. I just know she has so many amazing things coming. Can't wait to see what more she'll be doing next besides The Hunger Games series which I'm incredibly excited for. See her acceptance speech below.
So ladies we all know that it has become the norm for us to have a girl crush. Celebrity or not there are those ladies that we find ourselves admiring for various reasons. It has nothing to do with our sexuality. I mean it could, but it's not necessarily always the case. I think Jenna Marbles explains it best in the following video. *Warning there is some vulgar language.
The following ladies are my girl crushes. I'm not going to go as far as breaking it down by tier as Jenna did, but they each have a quality that I admire most. Although they would all probably tie between the first and second levels.
**The first paragraphs are quick bios I pulled from Wikipedia just to provide some background on who these ladies are for those who might not know.

What I love about Kelly most is her humbleness. She's so down to earth and has such a self deprecating sense of humor that just makes you love her even more. She doesn't take things too seriously and has a wonderful sense of self. I especially love that she knows who she is and does not apologize for it. She is happy being the person she is and doesn't let what anyone else says get to her whether it be about her weight, her relationship status, her sexuality, or her music. Not to mention the amazing voice that this woman has. She has such an incredible talent that everyone should get to experience. I've had the pleasure of not only seeing her perform live but also meet this incredible person. Her laugh is infectious and she has such a sweet disposition. She is just all around a beautiful person inside and out and incredibly talented. The Official Kelly Clarkson Site Kelly Clarkson (kelly_clarkson) on Twitter

They became the first Australian artists to have a single certified Platinum in the U.S. with over 1,000,000 paid downloads.
My favorite thing about Lisa and Jess is their take no bullshit attitude. They are not afraid to call people out. They play by their rules and won't compromise themselves for anything. I love that they want to do the best for their fans and only give them the best. They go out of their way to connect with their fans almost to the point where you almost feel like your one of their friends. They have strong opinions and aren't afraid to express them. They see the beauty in all things and have such a spiritual outlook on life. They are just so poetic and inspiring. Be it through poetry, photography, or their music. I am sometimes in awe of their wisdom and insight. Not to mention their beauty. And their talent amazes me. I also love the fact that despite being identical twins they are so distinct in their own styles. They just have beautiful souls. The Veronicas Official Website

She has stated that it is a 'pretty slow process' but she wants the album to be more 'pop/rock driven' instead of Broadway influenced. In September 2012 it was announced that Lea Michele is the new face of L’Oréal Paris.
There are so many things to I can say about why I adore Lea. From her outstanding singing voice, her acting talents, her infectious laugh, her remarkable beauty or how she fan girls with the best of us. There's just so many things. I think my favorite thing about her would be her fangirling. It's a wonderful thing to see how excited she gets over her favorite things like getting an autograph picture sent from her idol Barbara Streisand, seeing and meeting Celine Dion, and of course her favorite shows like any of the Housewives shows, AHS, and so on. It's so cute and adorable. I also love how she is so comfortable with who she is and feels beautiful. Despite what others have told her she is comfortable in her skin and celebrates it. She is confident in who she is. People love to call her a diva. They mostly try to make it negative but Lea accepts it positively because to her a diva is someone who is driven and works hard to achieve their goals. I gotta say I agree with her. She is who she is and if you can't accept that oh well.

At the age of seventeen, Lenz earned a nine episode gig as the teenage clone of Reva Shayne on Guiding Light. Her stint earned her such favorable reviews from viewers, critics and Guiding Light executives alike that Lenz was eventually recast as Michelle Bauer Santos upon Rebecca Budig's exit - an unusual move that was "unheard of" in the industry according to CBS producer, Mickey Dwyer-Dobbin. Lenz also landed the role of Rose Cronin in Mary and Rhoda; and guest appearances on Off-Centre, Charmed, Felicity, Maybe It's Me and The Guardian. In 2002 Lenz joined the cast of Bring It On Again as the co-captain of the varsity squad, Marni Potts. Immediately after the duo was formed, Everly, musical acts Angels & Airwaves, and Kate Voegele teamed up with the USO for a live concert event for military personnel. The USO concert was filmed and formed the basis for a One Tree Hill episode. Since then she has performed and released many songs on the show. After six months of writing a libretto of The Notebook Musical based on the New York Times best selling novel, The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks, Lenz brought the idea to her producer Ron Aniello. Shortly after they formed Galeotti & Aniello Productions. and presented their first-ever Live Theatrical Workshop in October 2009. She is also a co-author to a 1920's online mystery Diamond Gothic. In 2013 she released Then Slowly Grows to benefit a charity.
There is so much I can say about Joy. Obviously as you can read above she is amazingly talented both in acting and music. I first began to adore her as Haley James Scott on OTH. From there I became familiar with her other roles and more importantly her music. She has such an amazing voice and she has such an amazing writing talent. There really isn't much Joy can't do. She's beautiful, caring, funny, creative in every way and so much more. She acts, she sings, she plays instruments, she writes music, writes poetry, writes musicals. It's admirable. I really love how much she's into old fashioned things. Her love of all things vintage is intriguing. She has such an appreciation for things that it's inspiring. She can find the beauty in all things and she loves sharing it with her fans. I love reading her blog where she shares her fashion, music and movie suggestions, books, and so on.

What can I say about Naya? Like the others she is incredibly beautiful and talented. My favorite thing about her would be her raspy singing voice. It's so unique and amazing to hear. I just really think she is incredibly beautiful and represents us Puerto Ricans well. She does a fantastic job giving her honest portrayal of a young girl coming to terms with coming out on Glee. Her character Santana really drew me to her. I love how she portrays the straight up bitch persona. Naya also seems to be so warm and positive. She has such a great sense of self that is attractive. I also love when she laughs. She's just so passionate in what she does and she has fun while doing it. It's hard to resist.

Lawrence's performances thus far have prompted Rolling Stone to call her "the most talented young actress in America".
In the past year I've come to know a lot about Jennifer. She is very endearing and full of humor. I think the one thing I love the most about her is her crazy sense of humor. She very honest and hilarious. I love that she doesn't she herself as a celebrity and doesn't get people's fascination with her. She'll be the first to call herself a dork and say she's nothing interesting. She has no problem embarrassing herself. In fact she owns up to it. It's nice to see a young woman with so much talent and so much success view herself so normally that she could easily blend in to your everyday life, and if you didn't pay attention to the entertainment world, you'd never know she was famous. I just feel like if we were in a friendly she and I would get along great with our craziness.
So there we have it. My girl crushes. They all have the same traits in common that I absolutely admire besides them all being incredibly talented and beautiful. Those traits are that they are all strong, confident, independendant, driven, and hardworking women with a strong sense of self. They strive for the goals they want to achieve and work their asses off without anyone holding them back. There's probably alot more I could say about them but I think this post is long enough. :)
So, I know I'm not the only one who has heard time and time again that you have to be careful with who you talk to on the internet. You never really know who is behind the computer screen. I have to say I do agree with this to an extent. Unfortunately there are people out there who do take advantage of the cyber world to fool other people as jokes and for devious reasons. I mean there's even a TV show about it. But that is not always the case.
I have learned that there are people that you can meet online that are genuine and can become good friends. Lucky for me I have had that good fortune. Most of the time people go online to find and interact with others who share their common interests. Especially if you don't have someone in your everyday life that shares your interest, which was pretty much the case for me. It started off with joining message boards and over the years evolved into the likes of Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, and finally Tumblr. Sites like these opened up a whole new world of interaction across the globe.
I've been told by a few people that those I interact with are not really friends and you can't really trust that they are who they say they are. I'm typically very cautious with this because there is truth there, but I have been interacting with some of them for so long that to me they have become my friends. Hard to believe for some but it's the truth. My experience started when I began using Tumblr. I was looking for a place where I could see pretty things of my favorite actors, shows, and singers, and other interests. There I found that a bunch of people who were like me as far as our interests. Just by hitting the follow button your introducing yourself and opening a line of communication. I started messaging with a few and the friendships started.
From there it carried over to Twitter and even email. It has been two years and I couldn't have imagined the kinds of friendships I have gained. At this point we can talk about everything. It's no longer just about what happened on our fave show, who our favorite celebrity is dating, or what new single just came out from our fave singer. We are now comfortable enough where we share the stresses of our day. What's bugging us about our daily life and other things. I'll be honest have our conversations daily have made me smile so much more.I sometimes find myself keeping contact much more frequently then with my friends in real life.
This is not to say that my friends I physically know have become any less important or forgotten. I value them all but in different ways. All in all I was lucky to learn that you can make friends online and it can be genuine. You just have to be smart about it. Also keep in mind I am a grown woman. More precaution should be taken with teens and children. I don't think kids should be going online and just start making friends with strangers. I hope that parents do monitor their children's' online activities ensuring that there is nothing shady going on. We do need to be safe.
Wow, it's been a loooong time since I've blogged anything. Suffice it to say there were many things that had kept me busy and distracted. So I pretty much abandoned this blog. Not to mention I found other outlets that were entertaining at the time. But they unfortunately were limited. And frankly it left me open to attack with when I shared certain opinions. People can be utterly ridiculous when they don't share your opinion. Even when it's on things that are open to interpretation.
So whether or not the things are read by a bunch of people, one person or no one at all I needed a place where I could get my thoughts out. Obviously as in past posts it will be about pretty much everything and anything. Most of the time about my favorite, artists, shows, music, and so on. I just sometimes have things I'd like to say but can't find a good outlet for it. It's harsh. So I will be making use of this blog again. I egret abandoning it in the first place. Hopefully I won't be doing that again.
